CISD Families,

As the season for snow and ice ramps up, I simply wanted to offer a few winter weather reminders. When severe weather strikes and students at Cloverport Independent School (CIS) are unable to safely report to campus, they will often use a non-traditional instruction (NTI) day. CIS students in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade already have folders at home with work for each NTI day. Those in grades 4 and up will work in Google Classroom on their Chromebook to complete their NTI assignments at home. All NTI work is expected to be completed by the time we return to in-person learning.

Since they already work virtually, students at the Kentucky Virtual Academy (KYVA) will follow their normal schedule on NTI days.

My goal is to announce school closures as soon as possible. This, of course, varies depending on the timing of weather events. If school is closed, an announcement will be posted on our district website and Facebook page and sent via text, phone, and email. This announcement will specify the type of closure (NTI or non-school) and, if necessary, a makeup date. Please note that we might be in session when neighboring districts are not, or vice versa, so be mindful that you are watching the official outlets mentioned above for the most accurate information!

Respectfully,

Keith Haynes

CISD Superintendent
